You deserve therapy that doesn’t ask you to shrink, correct, or educate.

Finding a therapist as a queer, trans, or otherwise marginalized person can be exhausting. You may have explained your pronouns, identity, or relationship structure more times than you can count. Maybe you’ve been misgendered, pathologized, or met with confusion instead of care.

As a queer- and trans-competent therapist, my priority is to create a space that feels not only safer, but braver—where you feel affirmed, supported, and empowered to show up fully as yourself.

Queer & Trans-Competent Therapy

Queer- and trans-competent therapy is more than getting your pronouns right (though yes—that too). It’s about showing up with care, humility, and actual respect for your lived experience. It’s about working with someone who gets it—or at least, really tries to—without making you carry the emotional load of just trying to be understood.

My aim is to meet you with curiosity and compassion—without making you play the role of educator just to feel seen in your humanity and fullness (in your own therapy session!)

I do my best to keep learning, unlearning, and staying awake. Whether you're navigating the impacts of minority stress, discrimination, coming out, or gender dysphoria—I know your identity isn't the problem. And let’s be real: not everything is about your gender or sexuality. You’re a whole person, with unique goals, struggles, and stories. As it always should, our work will center what matters most to you.

My Experience

My career started in Colorado, where I primarily worked with adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities, neurodivergent adults, and folks in the queer community. My path led me to Grand Rapids, where I joined a group practice known for serving LGBTQIA+ clients. There, my commitment to queer and trans care became a true passion.

In 2021, I completed training in writing clinical letters for gender-affirming care. Since then, I’ve supported many clients through that process—working to reduce the gatekeeping that too often gets in the way of care. I believe you deserve support, not more barriers.

I also do my best to stay connected with affirming providers across disciplines and I work to help link you to the care and resources that you desire or need. I practice with an intersectional lens, knowing that your experiences are shaped by many parts of who you are—race, gender, size, ability, class, and more. I honor the impact of those systems as well as the resilience, joy, and deep wisdom that you carry.
